"Rosie's Care Hats"

A$15.00

Witch (aka Christine Elliott) has been sewing all of her life. Self taught by watching her Mum as a little girl. For many years she mended holes and fixed up buttons for her children’s clothes and work shirts for her husband of 35 years, Will. Once her three children all grew up and left the farm, Witch had spare rooms to collect material and create baby blankets, bibs, overalls and has attended a couple of local markets. Witch has since moved her sewing machines into the granny flat (aka The Witches Box) and as her children say, “Mum has two hobbies, collecting the fabric and sewing it.”

The Witches Box often looks like a bomb has gone off, but behind the piles of specially sourced material and most beautiful prints and boxes of creations there is an iron on, ready to finalise the latest ‘Witch One’ design hot off the sewing machine.

Well before Witch was diagnosed with Breast Cancer (September 2023) she was working in palliative care and one of their clients (Rosie) was having a terrible time finding a hat that didn’t hurt her head, so Witch made her first bamboo hats, aptly named “Rosie’s Care Hats”.

Everyone’s cancer story is different, and although Christine is only in the early chapters of her Breast Cancer story, she has made and sent over 20 of “Rosie’s Care Hats” around Australia to women experiencing hair loss from treatment because she believes every lady who is getting chemo should have a comfortable pretty hat too.

So this Christmas, Witch has a goal of creating and delivering a beautiful print in the softest bamboo to every woman who needs a “Rosie’s Care Hat”.

For $15, you can gift or donate one of “Rosie’s Care Hats” that will be posted Australia wide.
